#1. See You Later, Alligator
Who am I to question
What's to come, what has come,
What has gone: words and
Places childhood shone
'So see you later, alligator'
No farewell
They take too long.
Had your eyes read this,
Glasses poised
Pressed on weary drapes,
Would you be proud?
And not often enough I've stopped to ponder,
I'm forever to wonder
Now you're no longer around.
Shameful the time I have spent on my own,
Years and years
And slowly,
Slowly...
Would you still not have remembered me?
Who am I to question
Would you still have been lonely?
You're only for me to remember as
The beginning of mine, things I've forgot.
The end of yours - my beginning was lost.
Yet al
Drinking up at nightclubs
Tough love, the hookups -
Cherries on the high,
Greedy tongues stuck hazy rut
To keep the dull out of my eyes.
Stealing drags, snagging sips
Get around, staggering
Strangers begging stay out late
Bourbon-glistened velcro skin
Anything from thinking straight.
Tipsy whispers - just enough
On the hunt, can't fall in love
Insecure faux romance
Easy picking, sober's rough
Night for night, fall in a trance.
Drink away the floors
Always torn, afraid of more -
Of feeling too close
Shallow need, curt applause
Strangers' solace be my dose.
Living in a nightclub
Nights spent, time scrubbed
Memories drunk away
This vision

The House Is Breaking
There are cracks in the walls
From crumbling voices flailing at dusk
Latching on fractures
More burden to the construct of brick-laden muscle
There are cracks in the walls
From night-time escapologists
Dreamers of dawn
Breaking through apertures one fist at a time
There are cracks in the walls
From every door exclaiming its presence
Loosening bolts and cosier fits
Come with unfaltering routine and persistence
There are cracks in the walls
From the pelting projectiles
That don't fit in the fissures
And worn down by a pitiable barrage of hostility
There are cracks in the walls
Analogue clock round the neck

Each And Every Journey
Ho ho ho!
And the sleigh bells sing a song of laughter!
And for every child
Waiting for the man in the red suit,
And the promise of a new year, those pristine baubles
And webs of light, strung,
Bring hope.
But every child must be patient,
And learn to let go – to sleep;
But how can they?
Tomorrow is the future, and the future is songs!
And candy!
And presents! And lights!
Fading.
Once the festivities die down and the glamour is gone,
Once the memories are made,
And the choirs cannot be heard lingering on
Silence,
Is all we can hear
A façade?
There is dust on these baubles,
It’s time to shine.
It’s time to forget, all th

Seven Billion Lonely People
From the bottom of a nighttime slope
Of threads of green and ghostly moths
That overlooks a field of fuzz,
I feel the life we all forgot.
I hear its voice among speeding wheels,
Neglected breath admired in shots,
And awed: the beauty, our enemy
Of the world outside our painted forts.
Above the barren, heaving land,
A smirking ash yields no stars
And not the moon. A street light.
Have they given up on us?
Laid out shyly on a mat of earth,
Defeated before me, that flattened field
Makes it clear we're side-by-side,
A dejected soul on broken rails.
Trees of matchsticks against towers of concrete,
No beauty lies below the best,
And the best is
My School Says I'm Worthless (sort of a rant) by jaesuninspiredart, literature

My School Says I'm Worthless (sort of a rant)
I'm a criminal because my values aren't their values
And I'm scum to say the least
Because I'm not on their list
Of academics
High achievers
Schooling-keen
Fervent believers
Ones who have their lives set out
And drink from molten glory raining down from
School top balconies...
And I have myself left to blame for all the non-attempts
And truancies; the bleak distractions
That help me escape the inviolable test-score stares
Of disapproval that I attract from their
Sternly-sculpted syllabus-minds
And they're forced to ask me 'Why?
Why are you still here?'
And I can barely say
That I'm afraid to leave.
That I know that no-one knows
Who
Or what
